They touched our lives and will forever hold a place in our hearts.

These Rogers' Rescues dogs have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We hope they are running and playing as a pack. And importantly, we hope they don't miss us as much as we miss them.

Sammy

Sammy's mom adopted him in 2006. He was the love of her life!

 

 

Bennie is gone but will never be forgotten for the love, devotion & joy that he brought into my life!

 

 

We adopted our sweet Kiki in January 2012.  She came to Rogers Rescue from Kentucky.  We were so blessed and grateful to her foster mom, Isis Nina Stevens, for allowing us to adopt her.  Kiki was a  sweet, smart and funny dog.  She was loving and devoted to us.  She loved to run and chase all the critters in our yard.  She always loved to give you a high five for a treat.  She was never far away from you if you were eating.  Food was her first love for sure!  She loved her human brother and loved to cuddle with him.  She left us much too quickly on August 26, 2018.  She will live in our hearts forever.  We will miss you dearly sweet Kiki.

 

 

 

Dusty led a very happy life with us since we adopted him in April of 2007.  Our family is absolutely heartbroken without his fluffy companionship. Everyone who met Dusty appreciated his gentle and loving nature

 

Indie

Indie, adopted in 2004, has passed away. We are so grateful for the 12 years of love.

 

 

Zack

We adopted Zack in May of 2006. He was approximately 9 years old and had the sweetest face ever. We all fell in love with him immediately. He was the 1st dog that Keith & Stephanie Lewandowski fostered.. He was such a sweet dog; not a mean bone in his body, very laid-back. He loved camping and going for walks in the woods – lots of sniffing around and he loved food of any kind. We used to say he would eat rocks if that's what you gave him.. In his younger days, he got into the garbage when no one was around; you would think he was starving. He lived with arthritis, cushings disease and congestive heart failure for several years. He unfortunately left us at the ripe old age of 19 on May 31, 2016. We will miss him forever. We love you Zack.

Shelby

Shelby rescued us in September of 2012. She was born in Kentucky and was brought to us from Rogers' Rescue. Shelby was the best dog ever and she gave so much love. We had lost a dog 6 months prior, so Shelby filled that void in our hearts. Now I am sadden again that God took Shelby from us on 4/18/16. She had a massive cancer tumor in her throat that was pressing on her windpipe. She was a friend to all who met her, people, dogs and even cats. We love and miss her so. Even though we had only 4 years with her, she had such a great impact on our lives. Thanks to Rogers' Rescue for giving her to us.

Haley

We adopted Haley in 2004 and she blessed our lives for over 12 years. She was our loyal protector alerting us to any strangers coming into our yard, and watching out for her human sister and brother always. A true puppy at heart, she loved watching birds and squirrels and chasing them….. and loved eating anything and everything! We lost her on March 28th to Liver Disease, which she fought for almost a year. My heart aches to have her back, but I know she is happy chasing squirrels in heaven right now. Haley, we miss and love you so very much!!! Thank you for sharing your life with us! And….thank you Roger’s Rescue for bringing us together with this beautiful girl!

Daphne

Who rescued who? It was love at first sight… you ambled up to us through the group of younger ‘foster cared’ beagles with your tattered ears and soulful eyes…we just knew you were meant to be ours. Though we were told of your hard life up until then, followed by our promises for your better life from that point on, it was you, my sweet Daphne, who made our lives, everyone’s life, that much better. You showed your love and devotion in so many ways… you followed us everywhere, never letting us out of your sight. You embraced every meal with crazy exuberance, begging only for belly rubs and the promise to be a part of our everyday lives. We are so very grateful to have shared in your second life….those 7+ years were filled with kisses, walks, trips to the lake and lots of tail wagging and snacks! You were a warm and caring sister to Trixie and Tootsie, and now you join Roxy in heaven. It hurts terribly to have had to say goodbye…our hearts ache to have lost you, but our souls are full of the best and most cherished memories of you. Loving you always “my Daphne”… rest peacefully.

Webster

Webster, who we adopted over 13 years ago, was finally overcome by his illnesses and his great big heart beat for the last time. He was surrounded by a family who have been forever changed. Thank you for all that you do, you have made a great difference in our life. I just wish I could stop crying; I will miss him so.

Shorty

Shorty came to us via Rogers Rescue in 2005. He joined Killian, our other rescue. Shorty was spunky and loving and our hearts are so broken. Our walks are not the same. Love you forever Shorty!

Pixi

Pixi was adopted by our family in July 2003. She came to us from Kentucky by the wonderful Rogers Rescues Volunteers. From the moment we picked her up from the Foster Family house and we opened up the car door and she jumped right in as to say " Okay, I am ready for my forever family to make my life better then it was back in Kentucky" She loved watching the squirrels outside and loved going for walks to the lake and jumping right in. We loved her so much and she went to her final resting place on January 6, 2016. We all miss her so much and I still talk and pray to her every night. Thank you Rogers Rescues for allowing us to love her for 13 wonderful years.

Molly Underfoot

We rescued Molly in July 2004. She was the most beautiful, gentle and faithful companion to us. She went to sleep in my arms on January 25, 2016. My Molly, My Baby…I miss you.

Roxie

We adopted Roxie in October 2004 when she was just a year old. After 11 years, we lost our sweet baby to cancer. Never have I known a more loving and gentle dog. She had the saddest eyes but was such a happy girl who loved going for walks, chasing rabbits and squirrels from our yard and hanging out at home with her “pack”. Roxie was incredibly smart, sometimes goofy but always loyal and loving. She grew up with our boys which was a wonderful experience for them. Roxie was deeply loved by all of us and the pain of losing her is immeasurable. She was a beautiful girl both inside and out and she is missed more than words can ever say. She will forever remain in our hearts.

Buddy

We adopted Buddy on February 27, 2007. He was estimated to be six years old and was found in a southern state as a stray. His gentle nature was the immediate giveaway to why he may have been discarded – as a beagle, he was clearly not a hunter. But he fit in immediately with our family and our two young children. In the 7 1/2 years that he was with us, he welcomed home two more babies, and countless friends and guests to our home with a wagging tail and a ready paw. We love you and miss you Buddy!

Carley

Carley was a wonderful addition to our family. She loved hunting anything and everything that ventured into our yard. She met many a neighbor when she first came to live with us because she was a great escape artist. But once she realized how good she had it at our home, she became a real homebody. Nutmeg

Nutmeg was a great little dog who loved to spend her weekends at the lake out on the boat after being adopted from Rogers Rescues 8 years ago. Sadly she passed of kidney failure. The boat is not going to be the same without you on it Nutty. Always in our hearts!

Dakota

Dakota was a free spirted mixed breed we adopted from the shelter. He was always so excepting and caring for his loved ones. He was so gentle and loyal to our family for so long! We live on a farm so he was always running and playing with the other dog Bo. But, sadly all good things must come to an end and Dakota passed on Valentine's Day. He was 16 and we miss him dearly but we know he is safe and healthy over the rainbow bridge.

Molly

We adopted Molly in August 2003. She was one of four puppies rescued from a West Virginia shelter by Rogers Rescues. I remember clearly going to the home that was fostering her and the four adorable golden puppies playing. She was such a loving dog to our family. She loved long walks, chasing her favorite ball and being with our family. Sadly Molly died on Thursday from heart failure. She was 11 and we miss her terribly.

Kody

We adopted Kody in 2006. He was a southern boy from Kentucky. We always said that, Christie, our female dog picked him. They were best friends. Since he was a border collie mix, he was a great watch dog. He was recently diagnosed with stage 4 mast cell tumor that did no respond to treatment. He Is now at peace and shining with all the stars of the universe! Our lives have been blessed because of his love and companionship. We will miss you very much!

Ted E. Bear

Ted was our second adoption from Rogers we got him in May of 2004, he was known then as Pepe. We refered to him as defender of the faith, he was out in front of the pack protecting us all from the unknown. He was also the peace keeper, breaking up arguments between the other dogs. He is greatly missed by all who knew him and it broke our hearts to have him leave us. We are so greatful to have had this little man in our lives.

Sofia

We adopted Sofia in January 2007 after she was so well cared for and loved by her Rogers' Rescue foster family. Sofia was found in an alley in Philadelphia with eight new bouncing baby puppies. When all of her babies were old enough to be adopted out, we knew this little mamma needed a new family to care for. She's been such an important part of our lives ever since, right up to her passing on December 15, 2013. She touched our lives so deeply and we are blessed that she was part of our crazy little family for the short time she was with us. Kisses kisses kisses.

Tia

Words lack the ability to fully express ones capacity to experience grief. It is fair to say that my capacity has been reached. You were my best friend for 9 years. I cannot thank you enough for those 9 years. We will see each other again but until then there will be a small part of that which is me that will always be irreplaceable. I have no more words.

Rex

In 2003 with a heavy heart, I needed to fill the void left after losing Jake. I stumbled upon Rogers Rescues and came across A dog I fell in love with at first sight. His name was Rex and he had a white stripe right down the middle of his cute mug. I was told that he probably wasn't best with other dogs, small children, someone elderly and that he had food aggression. I believe from being in a kill shelter. Despite all that, I gave him a chance. He turned out to be as loyal as can be. He became great friends with his "cousin Charlie" (my Uncle's black lab) and soon became the loving family pet my family and I desired. He went everywhere with me, I had a weekend house in the Poconos, he learned all his property boundries and I could let him roam freely on my acre of property without ever having to worry about him leaving me. He was called to Rainbow bridge Tuesday, after a brief illness at home. Rex and I gave each other ten terrific years together. I believe he was 11 1/2 to 12 years of age. I miss him terribly but I gave him a wonderful life with lots of fun and companionship. God Bless you Rex and thanks for coming into my life! 

 

 

Lafawnduh (Fawnie)

My sister, Marlo, adopted Fawnie in 2005. The first time I met Fawnie, I thought what a weird little chihuahua!! Little did I know as Fawnie's aunt that I would come to love this dog to bits! My sister, Marlo, was the most amazing mommy! She took Fawnie on walks to the park and even sailing, with a life jacket, of course! She loved her with all of her heart and soul! In January, 2012, Fawnie came to live with me and my two chihuahuas. We thought that she would like the big backyard and two cousins to pick on. She loved it here! She would love to sun bathe on the patio steal food from the boys and my boyfriend as well! She was 17 years old with a lot of spring in her step! It was up until her unfortunate passing due to heart failure on June 22nd that she was active and happy!!!! My sister gave Fawnie a second lease on life!!!!! As my sister said, "Fawnie had a good run, we should all be so lucky!" I wanted to thank Rogers Rescues for taking a chance on a silly little chihuahua! She was sooooo loved by all who met her!!!! I know that my sister and I miss her terribly and are so grateful for the time we had with her:-)

Milo

We adopted Milo, a, adorable corgi/lab mix, on February 3, 2013 and he was our second Rogers dog. He was the foster of Scott and Robyn Mikaelian. Despite being 10, he loved going on long walks through the snow and exploring our farm. He got along with our cats but true to his title of "fun police" he took away their toys when they were having too much fun. In April, Milo was diagnosed with an aggressive and advanced skin cancer. We were devastated but determined to give him the best of everything. He was very patient with the numerous bandage changes and vet visits but thoroughly enjoyed sharing our dinner, going new places, and having lots of treats. He made friends everywhere he went and touched so many hearts. We lost Milo on June 22, 2013. The vet was amazed at how well he had done despite his grim diagnosis and he did not suffer but we knew when it was his time. In his short time with us, he was loved dearly and taught us about the joys of smaller dogs. We miss our Shorty terribly but we are blessed to have known him.

Guiness

Guiness was our first RR foster failure. While he was originally supposed to be "just a foster" when he arrived at our home, we quickly realized he probably wasn't going anywhere, especially after his amputation surgery. G-man never let his "handicap" get him down and had the heart of a lion until the end - unfortunately his body gave out before his heart and spirit did. But we had 4 wonderful years with him, more than we'd dared hope for after his surgery due to his size, and we wouldn't have traded a moment of them for anything. We love and miss you Guinny but know you and your "sisters" are always watching over us.

Sashi

I rescued Sashi from Rogers' Rescues in February 2004. She was the sweetest most loving dog I have ever known. Everyone who met Sashi loved her. Sadly, she passed away March 7, 2013, due to kidney failure. My dad still thinks she had a salt deficiency, since she was always licking everyone. 

I am hopeful that she is no longer in pain and playing with all of her friends at the Rainbow Bridge. Sashi will always be our "stinky dog," and we miss her every day.

Alyssa Katz 

Maggie Matz

Maggie was our snuffleupagus (as in Sesame Street). That crazy bouncing hair of hers -- and there was so much of it. 

She loved everyone and everything. She weighed about 53 pounds, however, she insisted on sitting on your lab as if she was a little puppy. 

Snow was her favorite followed by chasing the leaves. She loved to be outdoors and would sit on the front lawn and watch everyone go by. She would wait for another dog and their person to come by and run back and forth with them. Maggie loved her older sister Bailey. They would chase each other around the house and play tug of war all evening. Of course waiting for us to all settle down and watch TV before they began. 

Her bed was in my bedroom and she snored. This took a little getting used to for me. My husband said I would elbow him if he snored but yet I never disturbed the dog. I think my husband was jealous of our relationship. 

Maggie was my shadow. I could not get the groceries from the car without her jumping in the car and begging for a car ride. Maggie was a wonderful, loving and loyal dog that I will always remember and always wish we had more time together.

Rudy

We adopted Rudy on January 8, 2012 when he was about 3 months old. He was truly an amazing dog and brought so much joy to our family. He was beautiful, smart, and such a goofball. We really could not have asked for more. Unfortunately, Rudy was recently hit by a car in September and did not make it. We were right there with him when he passed. Words cannot describe how much Rudy meant to our family. We love and miss him so much and know that he is resting peacefully. 
 

Wendy Susan

Margaret adopted Wendy in 2005! Wendy was the foster of Heather and Brian Rodburg. Heather saved Wendy from a rural KY shelter where she found her injured, old and with little chance of adoption. 

Wendy was no spring chicken at 10 or so years when she joined our family. Wendy was the most wonderful beagle ever. She was patient, kind, loyal, devoted, snuggly with the softest ears ever! A perfect fit for mom as they both found themselves in need of someone to care for in their golden years. 

Wendy is missed by her forever family, young, old and fur. Wendy fulfilled her purpose in life as she is directly responsible for bringing her "sister" to volunteer with Rogers' Rescues. After this amazing girl joined the family her sister was inspired to join RR so that she could be a part of this magic that brought Wendy to her family. RIP at the Rainbow Bridge Wenders knowing that you will be greeted one day by your forever family. In honor of you we promise to keep working towards our goal.....Until there are None...Rescue One! 

 

 

Darcy Ray

Darcy Ray, or D Ray as we often called her was adopted from Rogers' Rescues on July 21, 2006. We knew she was a "keeper" the minute we saw her. She came to our home and was was given much love and affection. She had a big yard to run and play in with her pal, Boy. How she enjoyed her yummies and going for walks. As D Ray got older, her limbs started to get weak. Her walks were no longer like they used to be. She could no longer run and play nor climb stairs. But we were always there to help her and made sure she was comfortable. Eventually we could see the pain she suffered, as she could no longer stand up. Darcy Ray has touched our lives and she is deeply missed. Our girl lost her battle to osteoarthritis on July 26, 2012. She is deeply missed but her paw prints will always be in our hearts.

 

 

 

Maggie

We adopted Maggie from Anne Marie Rogers when she first started Rogers' Rescue. 

We loved her for 12 years until her passing in January, 2012. She was the best dog ever. 
 

Harper

Harper was a beautiful purebred Australian Cattle Dog who was found as a stray and taken to a crowded shelter in West Virginia. Her person was located and called and begged the shelter to hold on to Harper. They waited. And waited. And waited. But no one ever came to claim this wonderful dog. So, she became a Rogers' Rescues foster dog and found a home with an caring adopter where she lived for 2 years before passing on. She is missed by her former foster homes and her former family. She left her mark on their hearts.

Mosey

If you’ve seen or read the book “A Dog’s Purpose”, I think Mosey’s purpose was to bring us to Rogers’ Rescues. After sending a couple friends to RR and having them adopt fantastic dogs, they in turn forwarded Mosey’s writeup to me and it was love at first sight. We went through the process, adopted Mosey, and were so impressed with the group that we decided to volunteer. Six years and twenty-some foster dogs later, looking back it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. During the six wonderful years that we shared our lives with her, Mosey was our rock, the steady one around here who kept an eye out for all of us. She was the self-appointed guard dog of the family and tolerated all the foster dogs without batting an eye. She wasn't one to run and play (hence her name) but she could haul butt across the yard to chase off any threat, such as the terrible deer or birds on the feeders, when the mood struck her. She was one of the kindest, most loving dogs we've ever had the honor of knowing and I'm thankful for the times we had with her. It was no where near long enough. But that's the tough part with loving dogs – it never is. Play at the Bridge with your brother and sister until we get there Mosey and we’ll see you someday soon – Love you!

 

 

 

Gizmo

Gizmo arrived as a temporary Rogers' Rescues foster on March 5, 2005. No one told him that. So, he ended up being a permanent member of our family. In 7 years, Gizmo stood strong through major losses and turmoil in our family. His smile and quiet assurance woke me up every morning, letting me know that we would be ok. Who knew a discarded dog, one of thousands, would, after being saved, save a life many times over and bring so much joy. He is loved always and will be forever missed.

 

Emma

My dear, precious, sweet, faithful St. Bernard Emma, who we rescued in 2005, has passed away due to kidney failure. I am still so devastated from this loss but wanted to let you know and to thank you for giving me the opportunity be blessed with her sweet memories. 

Neko

Neko was adopted from Rogers' Rescues in 2006 at the age of 8. He spent 4 years as a beloved member of the Dakuginow family and to this day is dearly missed. RIP Neko. 
 

 

Dobbs

Handsome Dobbs was with his family for such a short time -- just 14 months. Yet in that time he brought them great joy, laughter and lots of dog hugs. He is terribly missed by the Lebak family. 

 

Pugsley

She was 9 years old when she was adopted from Rogers' Rescues in April, 2010. Pugsley spent the last year and a half of her life in the loving care of her adopter, Patricia Tarbuck. RIP sweet Pugsley.
